Last year I did a deep dive into test automation tools that use AI to make automation better. I published a few stories and spoke at a couple of conferences. I started playing with these tools with a specific goal in mind — to find a tool that will allow us to automate very complex end-to-end scenarios. After research, evaluations, and proof of concept, we did adopt an automation tool that uses AI.

You can read about my research in the series of posts below if you are interested. I just need to mention that more than a year has passed since I wrote those posts and for our industry, it's a lot. Some information might not be relevant anymore, so take technical details with a grain of salt.

Part 1. “The Current State of AI in Testing”

Part 2 . “An Overview of AI-Based Test Tools”

Part 3 . “AI Automation in the Wild

Part 4 . “AI and the QA Profession”

If you don't have time or will to go through this quite long reading you can find two paragraphs summary below:

Most of the modern test automation tools nowadays use or claim they use AI. These tools can help users to reach Test Automation Autonomy Levels 2 and 3. The AI is used in a supporting role to help automate tasks that are very time or labor-consuming.

I started testing in 2007, and cannot stop since then. Software hates me and never works as expected, so I guess I was born to be a QA.
